May seems to be the month for loads of arts and heritage events in the region. From art exhibit openings and talks by local artists, to music and theatre events, there's something for everyone from adults to kids.
Pendragon Theatre has opened their summer season this month with Alladin and the Wonderful Lamp, a delightful dramatization of the saga about the boy who found a Magic Lamp. Performances run through June 1 with evening and matinee performances.
At the end of the month, Adirondack Carousel will celebrate its one year anniversary with free rides, cake and more. Join the fun and take a spin on the most beautiful carousel in the Adirondacks!
The Historic Saranac Lake lecture series "History Matters" will host several talks this month about several historic Saranac Lake topics. Some of the topics include guideboat building and Tuberculosis curing history. This series has been very informative and entertaining so far!
On May 21 the Saranac Lake Farmers Market starts its summer-long Saturday markets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tupper Lake's market begins a bit later, on June 13, with its weekly Thursday market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Wild Center parking lot.
If becoming an Adirondack 46er seems a daunting challenge, start out with the Saranac Lake 6er. Climb Saranac Lake's six peaks for a bit less challenge. Saranac Lake will host its first 6er Celebration on May 25.
There is so much more going on in the Saranac Lake Region, so be sure to visit the complete calendar so you don't miss a thing!
