Summer in Saranac Lake is a festival in itself. The village has created a seemingly endless stream of events and happenings in the parks, on the water, and in the historic downtown area.
Celebrate nature
Stop by the Paul Smith’s Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) for the seasonal Teddy Roosevelt Bird Walks, held throughout the summer. The VIC also offers a wide range of programming events, children's activities, and guided nature walks. Top on the events list at the VIC is the 2016 Great Adirondack Birding Celebration on June 4th and 5th. Entering its 14th year, it is the longest running birding festival in the Northeast. The month of June in Saranac Lake has been designated as Celebrate Paddling month. There are a number of events planned to encourage people to discover new paddling routes, try new equipment, and celebrate the vast waterways of the region. Some of the events planned include:
- Northern Forest Canoe Trail Paddlers Feshet Fest - June 10 and 11
- Saranac Lake Cardboard Boat Race - June 25
Included in the June paddling celebration will be weekly Thursday Night Kayak Tours with Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters.
Culture galore
The music and art scene is Saranac Lake is always growing, with performances by some of the best regional and nationally recognized bands. The iconic venue, The Waterhole, has been reinvented by new owners and a varied and vigorous schedule of entertainment.
Third Thursday Art Walks begin on June 16th with the Historic Downtown District coming alive with art and music on the sidewalks, and in many business locations along the street. Cultural events in Saranac Lake are numerous, as the village has become the hub of arts for the entire region. Art galleries abound, and the village is teeming with well-known Adirondack artists whose works are celebrated at many events throughout the season. Historic talks and art openings help round out our cultural offerings, and Pendragon Theatre offers a full schedule of performances throughout the summer months.

You don’t want miss Saranac Lake’s Independence Day weekend celebration with kiddie parade and fireworks.
In Riverside Park, the 8th annual Runabout Rendezvous is scheduled for July 9th. It's a not-to-be-missed exhibition of dozens of spectacular, historic, and classic boats.
Don't miss the very popular Saranac Lake Village Farmers' Market in Riverside Park every Saturday, beginnig June 4th and running through October 8th. With nearly 40 vendors, this market is one of the most widely attended and successful markets in the Adirondacks. From produce to meats to crafts, you're sure to find something you won't want to miss out on!
