When it comes to quality of life, there is no place like the Adirondacks. It’s true, a lot of people visit the region to explore the outdoors, but the same mountains, lakes, and fresh air that inspire the adventurous also make it the perfect place for rejuvenation and indulgence. And for the record, indulging doesn’t always mean a day at the spa, but it certainly can!
Morning
Shake off sleep and start the day off right with a stop at Origin Coffee, where you can grab a coffee, latte, breakfast, or a baked treat. Their menu is ever-changing based on the seasonal availability of farm-fresh products, and the staff is as welcoming and enjoyable as the coffee they serve. Once you’ve savored every last drop of coffee, head to Ampersand Salon & Spa at the Hotel Saranac, just a short walk down the street.
Late morning
In Saranc Lake, you don’t always need to go into the woods to get muddy. For the ultimate afternoon of relaxation, the spa at the Hotel Saranac will not disappoint. Try some of their signature Adirondack-themed services like the Signature Ampersand Massage, Mountain Mud Masque, or the Mt. Marcy Mineral Scrub.
Afternoon
There’s nothing more refreshing than good, healthy food. Luckily, Nori’s is just a short walk down the hill from the hotel. Their recent expansion was much needed and is an amazing addition to this health food store. Half of the store is a market, while the other half is a cafe with grab-n-go food, smoothies, and specialty coffees. So grab a smoothie and relax. You’ve earned it.
Late afternoon
By now you’re going to be feeling really good — it’s time for hot chocolate and games back at the Hotel Saranac! This will bring you back to a time of simplicity and leave you feeling youthful and rejuvenated in no time. How many points will the Adirondacks earn you?
Evening
Decisions, decisions. Every Wednesday the Hotel Saranac offers a yoga class with an instructor from Hot Yoga Lake Placid from 5:30-6:30 p.m. This is a great way to relieve any built up stress and stretch everything out. If you forgot your yoga pants, then head into the Great Hall Bar for a tasting from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Night cap
After your yoga or tasting, you’ll need to refuel. Downstairs in the hotel you’ll find Campfire Adirondack Bar & Grill, where you can order an authentic Adirondack meal, sourced with local products, in a relaxing setting. Finish it off with a crafted cocktail (or two) from their drink menu, and you have the perfect night cap.
The next time you're feeling tired and run down, think of Saranac Lake. Plan your relaxing getaway today where you can do whatever it is that relaxes you!
