Join us for a day of celebration, history, and vibrant culture as Historic Saranac Lake hosts the President Quezon History Day and Street Festival on Saturday, August 3, 2024! From 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the charming Village of Saranac Lake will come alive with festivities honoring the remarkable life and legacy of Filipino President Manuel Luis Quezon.
What is it?
It's a day dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Manuel Luis Quezon, the first democratically elected president of the Philippines. President Quezon spent time in Saranac Lake seeking medical treatment, and this event commemorates the 80th anniversary of his passing in 1944.

Opening Ceremony: Kick off the day with a grand welcome as we honor distinguished dignitaries and special guests at Harrietstown Town Hall. The ceremony includes a spectacular display of traditional and contemporary dance. Two dynamic dance groups, KAōS Dance Collective from New York City and the Golden Maidens from Montreal, will showcase their talents, bringing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines to life through their mesmerizing performances.
Lively Street Fair: Stroll through the streets of downtown Saranac Lake, where the air will be filled with the tantalizing aromas of Filipino cuisine. Indulge in a feast of flavors served by Kapamilya Restaurant, and browse unique items from artisans and merchants. Be sure to catch the musical and dance performances at Berkeley Green that will keep the atmosphere lively and festive all day long.
Filipino-Inspired Cuisine: Visit the Hotel Saranac where Filipino-inspired food and beverages will be served throughout the weekend. This is the perfect opportunity to savor the exquisite flavors of the Philippines in an elegant setting.
Entertainment at Berkeley Green: Berkeley Green will showcase the talents of Filipino dancers and musicians. You won't want to miss performances by Funraisers of Albany and the Albany-Sinulog Dance Troupe. Enjoy music by the Brown Sugar Band and the Wicked Indios.
Special Exhibits: Explore special museum exhibits at Historic Saranac Lake's Saranac Laboratory Museum that delve into the history and contributions of President Quezon. These exhibits will offer a deeper understanding of his time in Saranac Lake and his enduring legacy. The first 100 visitors to the museum will receive a coupon for a complimentary beverage at the Hotel Saranac closing reception.
Meet the Community: All are welcome to attend a special closing reception in the Hotel Saranac Great Hall from 5pm to 7pm. Connect with members of the Philippine Associations from across the region, including New York City, the North Country, Albany, Vermont, and Montreal as they come together to celebrate this special day. Their participation highlights the strong community ties and the shared appreciation for President Quezon's impact.
