The Lake Placid Film Festival, presented by Adirondack Film, is a dynamic celebration of cinema, showcasing award-winning shorts, groundbreaking feature films, industry panels, and mixers. Set in the picturesque village of Lake Placid, NY, this four-day event brings together filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a film industry professional or a movie buff, the festival offers something for everyone, all in the enchanting surroundings of Lake Placid.

Amazing Films + A Beautiful Place = The Perfect 4 Days! Named one of the best Film Festival Vacation Destinations by MovieMaker Magazine, the Lake Placid Film Festival will run from Thursday, October 30, through Sunday, November 2, 2025.

As we finalize details for the 2025 event, here’s a look at the 2024 schedule for reference.

The Lake Placid Film Festival packs a lot into four days! From panels and workshops to feature films and inspiring shorts, there is a lot to do, whether you're here to learn and make connections or just enjoy some big-screen fun!

Featured events include:

Thursday: Kick off the festivities at the Opening Night Party at the High Peaks Resort! Then join Olympic gold medalist and 1980 US Men's Hockey team member Buzz Schneider for a showing of Miracle at the Palace Theatre at 7 p.m. ($10).

Friday: Friday is a busy day at the film festival! Check out the Your Shorts Are Showing judged short film competition at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) and carve out time for some of the three feature films playing at the Palace Theatre later in the day! Get your heart pumping at the BETA Double Feature: In The Dirt & Descendance, an exciting outdoor sports experience highlighting mountain biking and backcountry skiing. Don't miss your very own Hollywood moment at the Red Carpet Cocktail event, featuring conversation and Q&A with industry elites Jonathan Burkhart, Jacob Krueger, and Jill Burkhart. Last but not least, an annual favorite—the Lake Placid Film Festival Trivia Mixer at Roamers Café & Bar! Test your team's cinematic knowledge and meet other film lovers over an evening of fun and fierce competition. 

Saturday: Saturday is a blockbuster day, with tons of feature films spanning genres, many of which will feature Q&As with actors, cinematographers, directors, and other special guests! The kids will love Ghost Cat Anzu, a delightful anime film for all ages, and, in case you missed it on Thursday, an encore of Miracle with special guest Buzz Schneider to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary! Cap off the day by celebrating the winners of the Your Shorts Are Showing competition and (new this year) Made Upstate award at the Short Film and Episodic Awards After Party at the High Peaks Resort! 

Sunday: Wrap up your Lake Placid Film Festival experience with more movies! From state and continental premieres to free family features and encores of films you may have missed in the days before, Sunday offers back-to-back movies that will keep you glued to your seat.

Tickets and festival passes will be on sale soon! Select your films or buy a pass to make the most of your time with the silver screen.

Passholders can pick up their passes at the High Peaks Resort during the following times:

  • Wednesday, October 29th: 11 am – 6:30 pm
  • Thursday, October 30th: 10 am – 7 pm
  • Friday, October 31st: 8:30 am – 9 pm
  • Saturday, Nov 1st: 8:30 am – 9 pm
  • Sunday, Nov 2nd: 8:30am – 11:30am

Adirondack Film is a nonprofit organization designed to advance the art and the appreciation of film and filmmaking in the greater Adirondack region. The organization’s goals include presenting high-quality independent, art, foreign language, documentary, and high-end studio films - those not typically shown at the local multiplex. Adirondack Film encourages local filmmaking, promotes regional filmmakers, and serves independent movie theater owners.
