Basic Land Navigation - Level 1

About

Basic Land Navigation: Level I

July 18 @ 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

$75.00

Who better to learn basic land navigation skills from than former Forest Rangers who’ve spent their careers in the backcountry of the Adirondacks? You will learn the basics of using a map and compass, including how to read topographic maps. By the end of the program, you’ll be putting these new skills to use for your own adventures. Multiple dates, 9am-4pm.

Bring a compass, that has the ability to set declination, has a sighting mirror and uses azimuth (0-360) for navigation. For example, the Silva Ranger 2.0. This course is mostly indoors, but be prepared to be outdoors for brief field exercises. Food service is intermittent at the VIC, please bring a bag lunch.
