Join Paul Smith’s College Forestry Faculty Dave Simmons for a three day course on Adirondack Lean-to Construction. Dave will take you through the steps of planning, processing materials, and assembling a lean-to from start to finish. By the end of this hands-on course, attendees will have witnessed tree felling, and participated in log peeling, timber processing with a chainsaw and portable sawmill, and complete assembly of an iconic Adirondack Lean-to.

Participants should plan for three consecutive 8hr workdays, 9am-5pm. Sufficient lunch, water and back-stretching breaks will be incorporated into each day. Registrants are not required to lift 50 lbs, but come prepared to get your hands dirty, heft logs, and participate in the entire process.

The completed project will reside on VIC property and the work of all participants will be acknowledged on a commemorative plaque installed on the lean-to. Registration is limited, sign up early. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 14-16, 2024.  Ages 18+
