Resources for planning the best outdoor experiences:

Trail closure - The NYSDEC has announced that the Scarface Trail is closed due to unsafe public use of the bridge. The bridge and the Scarface Mountain Trail will remain closed out of an abundance of caution until the structure is replaced, which is expected sometime in 2025. Planning is underway to replace the bridge. Users should not attempt to use the bridge or cross the brook on foot.

This is an important notice regarding Baker Mountain. If you plan to hike Baker Mountain, please plan ahead, as parking at the trailhead is extremely limited. You should park downtown and walk or bike the short distance to the trailhead.

Transportation and Parking

The Village of Saranac Lake follows a seasonal parking schedule. November 15th - April 15th. During the parking ban, ALL vehicles must be parked off the street from 2 am to 6 am. More information can be found on the Village website at: https://saranaclakeny.gov/faqs/is-overnight-parking-allowed-in-the-village/

Plan before you go

To ensure you have the most up-to-date information, you must check directly with the specific restaurant, lodging property, attraction, etc., you want to visit. Please note that many of our area attractions require advanced ticket purchasing and reservations.

Remember, kindness can move mountains. The world is understaffed, and so are we. Please be patient with all those working hard to provide the welcoming, laid-back experience the Adirondacks are so well known for. Thank you!
