Middle Saranac Lake Beach
This beach is popular because it's accessible by land and sea! Pull up with your boat or hike the short trail to this beach. Either way, you'll be met with the soft sands and beautiful scenery that surrounds Middle Saranac Lake. (Insider tip: this is a great sunset spot.)
Getting there
Via foot: For those arriving via car, from downtown Saranac Lake, turn right onto Route 3, heading west toward Tupper Lake. The parking area is on the right after about 8 miles. This is also the parking for Ampersand Mountain. The trail to the beach leaves from the parking lot; the trail up Ampersand is on the opposite side of the road. The trail to the lake is just over half a mile long.
Start hiking down the trail that leaves from the back left corner of the parking lot. From the parking area drop over the embankment to a well-developed trail to start you hike. The trail is dry and mostly flat as it continues over rooty terrain to a gorgeous and long sand beach on Middle Saranac Lake.
Via boat: The beach is on the southern shore. If you are arriving from the channel that connects to Lower Saranac Lake, stay straight through the channel markers and once out onto the main body of water, the beach will be to your left.
The beach
The water is very shallow and can be waded out on the sandy bottom for a very long distance.
