A scenic system
From main corridor trails to secondary loops, explore the stunning scenery of the Adirondack Park. From Saranac Lake, sledders can easily reach the nearby village of Tupper Lake, as well as Malone, and along the way there are services and attractions along the trails. When darkness falls, we have many dining and nightlife options to explore.
Corridors 7 and 7B
The Corridor 7 trail follows the railroad tracks through Gabriels, Rainbow Lake, and Onchiota. This is mostly a flat and level route, with a variety of different ecosystems. Midway through the route is Charlie's Inn at Lake Clear, a popular lodging and dining property which welcomes snowmobiles! The total distance of this trail is 41.74 miles.
The Corridor 7B trail is level and flat, taking riders between different mountain ranges. The total distance of this trail is 26.95 miles.
The Adirondack Rail Trail
The Adirondack Rail Trail is a 34-mile recreational trail that will be open year-round, offering scenic travel between the communities of Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, and Lake Placid. Snowmobiling is encouraged on the trail, and it is important to note that the Adirondack Rail Trail is a multi-use route. Riders will be sharing the trail with snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and other winter recreators.
To keep everyone’s Rail Trail experience safe, ride single file, keep to the right and pass on the left only when the trail is clear. When stopping on the trail, pull your snowmobile as far right and off the trail as possible. Yield to skiers, snowshoers and other non-mechanized forms of travel, as well as those passing or traveling uphill.
Remember:
-
Follow safety signs on trails.
-
Do not cross roads without stopping and yielding to incoming traffic.
-
If you are going off-trail, use caution especially when in more populated areas.
-
Familiarize yourself with local regulations, trail maps, and weather conditions before embarking on your journey. Stay informed about potential hazards and trail closures to avoid surprises, ensuring a smooth and secure ride.
-
Always check ice thickness, follow marked trails, and never venture onto unfamiliar frozen bodies of water.
