  • Visit the Adirondack Carousel and see the biggest piece of moving art in the Adirondacks. All of the animals have been hand carved and painted, many by local artists, with so much detail and beauty carved into each one. You can also take a ride and enjoy some good old-fashioned fun!
  • Take a walk through Academy + Main Boutique at Hotel Saranac. Find handmade wares, art and haberdashery. Pick out a postcard to send a note to your best friend sharing your favorite experience so far in Saranac Lake.
  • Reminisce the galleries or a theater performance, over a flight of local craft beers or an impressive glass of wine paired with the perfect meal in Campfire Adirondack Grill + Bar. Don’t miss the artwork in the Great Hall by local artist.
  • BluSeed Studios- Design your own workshops- papermaking, painting, enameling, pottery, printmaking, book arts- participants can choose their own time and studio project
  • Artworks Studio Tours: Studio Tours are an enjoyable way for visitors for artists to meet and share a love of art, visitors have unique opportunity to see works in progress. Pick up info at any of our galleries or online at: http://saranaclakeartworks.com/studiotour
  • Attend the Adirondack Plein Air Festival. Pick up schedule of where artists will be painting at the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery, 52 Main St.; artists will be in the village on Thursday; Preview Party in the evening on Fri.; “Quick Draw” Competition downtown Sat. morning and Free Show & Sale on Sat. from noon to 5 pm.
  • First Fridays of the each month: opening receptions at area art galleries: the Adirondack Artists Guild, 52 Main St., and NorthWind Fine Arts, 11 Woodruff St.; we have 13 area gallery/studios where art is on display every day! See the ArtWorks Member Directory.

  • Spend a night in the historic Hotel Saranac. Enjoy a nightcap or prohibition cocktail in the Great Hall Lounge before heading to your luxurious accommodations. Historic photos line the Arcade, sharing a interesting look of Saranac Lake in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
  • Visit the Saranac Laboratory Museum, open Tuesday - Friday, 10:00 - 4:00 and also open Saturdays from 10:00 - 4:00, Memorial Day to Columbus Day. Admission is $5, members and children are free of charge. Visitors typically spend 30 minutes to one hour exploring the museum. Exhibits are self-guided, however staff is always on hand to help guide visitors through the exhibits and answer any questions. What to expect at the museum: Tour the main laboratory space to find out about Saranac Lake's unique history as a world-wide center for TB research and patient care. Listen to an audio tour. View a variety of short films on TB and local history. Visit the Saranac Laboratory Museum on Church Street and learn about Saranac Lake’s unique history as a destination for outdoor recreation. Find out about Adirondack guides and the history of local wilderness areas. Brochures available include paddling history tours of Upper Saranac Lake and Lower Saranac Lake, and a history of the Great Camps on Upper Saint Regis Lake. Also available is the “Healing Woods Paddling History Tour” brochure exploring the history of wilderness author, Martha Reben. Visit the museum store.
  • Take a history tour with Historic Saranac Lake. Each Wednesday, June through Columbus Day, Historic Saranac Lake offers a different tour: a walking tour of historic downtown, a tour of the grounds of the former Trudeau Sanatorium, a tour of the private Cure Cottage Museum, and a tour of the first cure cottage, “Little Red,” and the Trudeau Statue. Attend one of Historic Saranac Lake’s special history talks and tours held throughout the summer at the Saranac Laboratory Museum and various locations in the area.
  • Take a guided tour of the Bartók Cabin, where the great composer, Béla Bartók, spent the last summer of his life and composed two of his greatest works. Historic Saranac Lake shows the cabin by appointment.
  • Immerse yourself in the Adirondack Park’s longest operating Lodge: the Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat. Brimming with historical events, culinary journeys, fun tastings and meanderings through a 25-acre Great Camp resort on the lake...where Einstein relaxed. History of Adirondack Food Dinner Events, History of Beer Tastings, Traditional Foods Cooking Demonstrations, Lake View Dining and Lantern-lit Sleigh Rides. Our Adirondack Discovery Experience includes a passport to the birthplace of nature tourism: the Upper Saranac-St. Regis region. This includes the Paul Smith’s College Visitor Interpretive Center, Tucker Farms Historic Corn Maze, White Pine Camp “Summer White House” Historic Tours, Moody’s Tree Farm and don’t forget the famous Donnelly’s Ice Cream.
