Location: Saranac Lake (Riverside Park and along the Adirondack Rail Trail)
Mileage Options: 1 - 30 miles
Benefiting: Adirondack Rail Trail Association
Celebrate the Adirondack Rail Trail with a day of exploration, volunteer projects, live music, food, and a community gathering. Participants can take part in a scavenger hunt, join stewardship efforts, and enjoy an evening event with local vendors.
Event Schedule:
- 9 AM - 1 PM: Check-in and registration in Riverside Park in Saranac Lake
- 9 AM - 4 PM: Trail exploration and scavenger hunt
- 10 AM - 12 PM: Volunteer service projects
- 4 PM - 7 PM: Celebration with food, drinks, and music
Scavenger Hunt Options:
Participants pick up their cards at Riverside Park and complete the hunt at their own pace.
- Short: 1-2 miles in Saranac Lake
- Medium: 20 miles out-and-back to Lake Placid
- Long: 30 miles out-and-back to Floodwood Road
Volunteer Service Projects:
From 10 AM to 12 PM, volunteers will work on various trail improvements. All tools and materials are provided. Projects include:
- Culvert Clearing – Removing debris to prevent erosion
- Debris Removal – Clearing downed trees and trail obstructions
- Ditch Cleaning – Improving water drainage along the trail
- Timber Rail Treatment – Preserving railings with protective coating
- Invasive Species Removal – Eradicating harmful plants from the corridor
Proceeds from the event support the Adirondack Rail Trail Association, ensuring accessibility and conservation for future generations.
