Pre-Festival Workshop

Saturday & Sunday, August 10-11:
Pre-Festival Plein Air Workshop with Valerie Craig. More details available on the Plein Air Workshop page.

Monday, August 12

Location: Hotel Saranac, 100 Main St., Saranac Lake, NY
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Artist check-in and surface stamping. Painting may begin afterward.
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: "Meet the Artists” Reception, with nocturne painting opportunities.

Tuesday, August 13

Event: “Paint the VIC” Day
Location: Paul Smith’s College VIC
Artists will paint at various scenic locations including mountain views, old growth forests, bogs, streams, and more. Trail maps available. Painting through the evening is encouraged.

Wednesday, August 14

Event: “Paint the Adirondacks” Day
Artists are free to choose their painting locations. Maps and information provided in the artist's packet. Visitors can watch the artists at work.

Thursday, August 15

Event: “Paint the Town” Day
Location: Village of Saranac Lake
Artists will paint throughout the village and create a small painting for a silent auction.

5:00 PM - 7:30 PM: “3rd Thursday ArtWalk”
Artists and musicians will be throughout the village. Plein Air artists can set up and interact with visitors. Free live music at Berkeley Green.

Nocturne Contest:
On-going display at the Hotel Saranac. Paintings to be picked up Thursday evening or Friday morning for the Show & Sale at Town Hall.

Friday, August 16

Event: “Paint the Saranac River” Day
Location: Saranac Lake Fish & Game Club
Artists can paint mountain views along the Saranac River or other nearby areas.

9:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Framed paintings are due at Town Hall.
3:00 PM: Jurying
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Preview Party
View the new paintings, enjoy beer, wine, and snacks. Awards presented at 7:30 PM. Tickets available in advance or at the door (free for artists). Sponsored by AdkAction.org.

Saturday, August 17

Event: “Quick Draw” Competition
Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Downtown Saranac Lake
Artists will create paintings in just 2 hours. Judging at 11:45 AM in front of Town Hall.

Event: Show & Sale
Location: Town Hall
Time: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Meet the artists and view new paintings. The "Paint the Town" Silent Auction concludes at 4:00 PM. Festival ends at 5:00 PM.
